Why did the requirements change?
Since minimum skills tests are no longer a requirement for leagues to assess players' ability to participate in games, we have adjusted the requirements based on the time a player has completed a foundational program and has been assessed by their home league that they are ready and safe to participate in a regulation scrimmage/game. We have also taken learnings from previous Fresh tournaments in our decision to adjust the participation requirements. Ultimately, our goal is to make this tournament fair and fun for all the players starting their Roller Derby journey!
Is there a junior bracket or junior teams participating?
No, there is no junior bracket and junior teams are not permitted to participate in the tournament. We do however have an open junior scrimmage on Sunday, July 7th to open the final day of play. The scrimmage consists of 2 twenty minute periods. Although not part of the tournament, the juniors who participate in the scrimmage will still see the same amount of track time as any team eliminated after the second round.
